Cats With Two Different Colored Eyes?

  I decided since I like both photography and writing I might try  photojournalism, and if I like it I will consider it for a career someday. So I will try and take one photo and write a story on it at least once a week.

 Ever notice some cats have two different colored eyes? I've been noticing this "problem" a lot with the cats my parents own. I like it though, it looks awesome and it makes the cat look unique. Seriously look at it. So adorable!

 In order to understand why some cats have different color eyes, we must first understand what melanin is. Melanin is a pigment, that comes in two different forms: eumelanin and pheomelanin. Eumelanin is black or brown, pheomelanin is yellow or red. Melanin is responsible for our skin color, hair color, our eye color, even the color of feathers and scales. Darker colors have more melanin than lighter colors do.

 Most kittens are born with blue eyes, because they aren't born with the color pigmentation they need for their true eye color. By the time most kittens reach around the age of 3 months most kittens have their true eye color. Melanin moves into the iris of the eye, and changes the color to whatever is its true eye color, but sometimes melanin only reaches one of the eyes, which means the eye without the melanin pigment will remain blue. This is technically called heterochromia.

  Heterochromia occurs most commonly in cats with the "white gene". Basically the white gene makes it hard for the melanin pigment to move into the cats eye. Although, heterochromia can occur with any color cat.

Ehh, I Figured As Much

  So, I've been completely lazy with what I said I was gonna do. Oh, well I kinda thought this was gonna happen. I did take most of the pictures though, but with work and packing and stuff I just don't feel like messing with taking the picture, uploading the picture, editing the picture, uploading to this site, then thinking of what to write with the picture. It's "lots" of work... Not really. Either way I didn't really do what I said, and I doubt I'll try and do something like this again because I've tried something like this with many different sites, I have yet to finish it.

Day Three: Garlic!

 

   Its me. I worked from 11-9:00ish and didn't feel like taking a picture before, but while at work, it was really slow so I took a picture of myself in the produce mirror. I thought about not using it, but I'm so tired I will. By the way, I love garlic!

Day Two: Once Again, It's A Kitty!

   I know, same kitten. Definitely not that great of a picture, especially if you compare it to the other one I took. I had a brief thought, that I would take the picture of this kitten everyday, and see how it grows within the  20 days, but like I said, it was a brief thought so that's what today's picture is, but I think it will be more of of different stuff each day, so that is what I shall do!

Day One: It's A Kitty!

   This is just so adorable! I know, it's not the best edit, but I still love this picture! :)
Although, it looks like our dog, Bear, doesn't mind the kitten right? Well, lets just say hi is on "his" chair in the picture because he was in trouble for having the kitten IN his mouth! So, i sent him to his chair as a punishment, left him there awhile set the kitten there so he would realize that its not a toy, well the kitten stayed, and I saw how adorable they looked together! I tried taking one with Bear completely in the picture, but this one looked so much better. I realize now though it would have looked better if I got his entire nose in the picture. oh well, Live-N-Learn.

A Picture A Day

  As I mentioned on my other blog, I love photography so to help improve my photography I am going to take at least one picture a day and post it on here. Of course, I'll miss a few days that's a given, and well I am only gonna do this until the end of this month, I have a mission trip the beginning of October and won't be home for two weeks to do this. I figured I'd start tomorrow on this. So, September 10th-September 31st.
